I've known since well before we moved in that I wanted my dining room done in Tobacco Road. I first read about Tobacco Road on Nesting Place. She's awesome, I've been a reader since waaaaay before she got all fancy with her blog and she was still on Blogger.
Tobacco Road is a discontinued Duron color. Sherwin Williams can recreate it, but at $45 a gallon? Thanks....but no thanks. I searched and search the net and found a Behr color code, sent hubs to Home Depot, and crossed my fingers.
Oh. Em. Gee. It is GORGEOUS! I was scared the Behr knock off wouldn't have that color changing effect like the Duron/SW does. It looks different in sunlight, overhead lighting, and at different times of the day. Gorgeous!
This is right when you walk in the front door. The dining room is on the left with the entry wall almost completely open.
Would you believe that is the only place in the house that hutch fits?? I gave hubs my other hutch and we have picked out an amazing black one. I can't decide if I am painting the corner hutch black or getting rid of it.
These curtains were $2 thrift store curtains. I am putting up black and white damask or toile curtains as soon as I find some. I'm doing one panel on each window so it makes it look like one big window. Plates are staying between, though, because they are cute :)
I've been looking for black and white damask curtains for months, I found some chandelier curtains at Target, but I'm not in love with them.
See how the paint appears to change colors? Lurve.
I have some great bird accessories I found thrifting that I will paint black for the walls. I had my heart set on a black chandelier, but the existing light looks great, and the green in it ties in the plates (which are my kids' plates from my grandmother). I think the room is just screaming for a black birdcage. I'm thinking die cut birdies and make it cutesy, you know, because I can't leave anything alone.
This is the hutch we picked out. It's the exact opposite of what I went looking for, but I fell in love.
