Washi Tape Headbands

Miss Koti Beth has long hair, so we are always looking for cute hair accessories.  She tends to lose them or break them, so I don't like spending a lot of money on her headbands.  We got a pack of 6 headbands in solid colors for $1, but she wanted something with a pattern.  We both love using washi tape, so naturally we used that to make our pretty headbands.

Washi Tape Headbands

This is what we started with: plastic thin headbands covered in a fabric.

How to make custom headbands with washi tape.

First, I used scissors to cut the end of the fabric so we could take it off.

Then, choose a style of washi tape.  Solid or something with a small pattern works best, but she wanted to use one with blue flowers and I wanted steampunk.  I found the steampunk washi tape at Pat Catan's, but you can also find it on Amazon.  The blue flower washi tape is also from Pat Catan's.

You simply wrap the washi tape around the headband at an angle.  I used a pretty wide angle so I would use less tape and so I could see the pattern better.  Just make sure you press down firmly with each wrap so it doesn't get puffed up.  When you finish, tape some Mod Podge and lightly coat the top and bottom.  This seals the ends of the tape so it doesn't unravel and catch your hair.

Here's my steampunk headband.

And here is Koti with the blue flower headband that she made by herself.

This was a really cute craft for us to make together.  She ended up making two of them, and she's begging for more washi tape and headbands.  Yes, she is definitely my daughter!

Tips for Bladder Leakage + Free Sample

Thanks to Depend for sponsoring today's discussion.  #Underwareness #DropYourPants

Have you ever laughed so hard that tears ran down your legs?  If you're a mom, then you probably have.  If you haven't, then you probably know someone who could say yes.  A good friend of mine has light bladder leakage, and if she hadn't told me that she relies on Depends, I'd have never known.

The average age of someone with bladder leakage is just 52.  In fact, there are more people under the age of 50 with bladder leakage than there are over 60!  Here are some tips for bladder leakage that can help you manage your symptoms.

Pelvic floor exercises

These muscles help your body hold urine.  When they get weak from pregnancy or other reasons, you can leak urine.  Practice Kegal exercises every two hours during the day to help stop leakage.  If you suddenly have the urge to go, squeeze and release the muscles several times to delay the urge until you get to the restroom.

Limit drinks

The more you drink, obviously the more you will go.  Limit how much you drink if you know you'll be in a situation where you can't get to a restroom.  Coffee and other caffeinated drinks can make you have to urinate more, so avoid these especially.

Schedule

Use the restroom on a schedule so your bladder empties at the same time each day.  If you can usually go every 3 hours, then use the restroom every 2.5 hours.

Depend

Depend underwear aren't big and bulky like most people think they are.  Depend Underwear with Fix-Flex protection have Lycra so they are smooth and fit close to the body.  Unless you tell someone you're wearing them, they will never know!

Whip Up a Healthy Dessert + Bonus Coupon

This article is sponsored by Yoplait Greek 100 Whips!

I love dessert, but my waistline does not like it so much.  I'm not a person who craves sweets often, but they are nice to have every once in a while.  I try to reach for fresh fruit or my home canned organic fruit from our farm, but sometimes I just need something else.

My favorite dessert is strawberry cheesecake, which is obviously not healthy.  After some brainstorming, I discovered a great way to satisfy my craving with Yoplait Greek 100 Whips!  Not only is it low in fat and calories, but it's actually healthy for me!  And it's so simple to whip up, you can make it in just 5 minutes.

Healthy Strawberry Cheesecake

I started with Yoplait Greek 100 Whips! in strawberry cheesecake and put it in a pretty glass.  This is very important because we all know that food just tastes better when it's in a fancy container.

I wanted a more authentic strawberry cheesecake flavor, so I crumbled half of a graham cracker on top.

See, I told you it was easy!

Graham crackers aren't the only yummy topping for the strawberry cheesecake.  I drizzled some chocolate on top of one container, and I sprinkled a few chocolate chips in another one.  Yum!  I think granola would be really good too.

Want more inspiration or want to share the creation you whipped up?  Check out the Yoplait Whips! gallery for ideas.

Yoplait Greek 100 Whips! also come in Vanilla Cupcake, Strawberry Cheesecake, Lemon Meringue, Raspberry, and more.  The healthy dessert recipe possibilities are almost endless!
