Peach Iced Tea Recipe from Fresh or Frozen Peaches

How to make a delicious peach iced tea recipe from fresh or frozen peaches.  This is an easy recipe, and it tastes just like that famous Italian's restaurant's peach iced tea but for a lot less money.  This can also be made sugar free or with a sugar substitute.

When we moved to the farm, I was so excited that we would have an established orchard.  I didn't even know that peaches grew in Ohio!

We have about 15 peach trees.  I don't know what kind they are, but there is one white peach tree.  That tree gives us the most delicious white peaches.

Our peaches are ready in August each year, so they are later than than in the south.  I can the peaches and make jam, peaches in light syrup, and peach pie filling.

I also freeze some for recipes like this peach tea recipe.  I've made this in the middle of winter with frozen peaches, and it tastes just like I used fresh peaches.

This is actually a two part recipe.  First you make the peach syrup, then you make the tea.  The syrup will last a few days in the fridge, so feel free to make it in advance.

Sweetener

Sugar is the most common sweetener for peach iced tea.  If you want to make it unsweetened, follow the recipe and omit the sugar.

You can also make it unsweetened and add sweetener or sugar by the glass.

You can also use one of the following sweeteners:

Be sure to adjust the amount and use the equivalent amount.

How Do You Make Peach Tea From Scratch?

It's easier than you think!  First you make a peach syrup with fresh or frozen peaches, water, and sugar.  Then you make the tea and add the peach syrup for flavor.

What Is Peach Tea Made Of?

You'll need fresh or frozen tea, sugar, water, and tea bags.  That's it!

Is Peach Tea Good For You?

Tea is good for you because it's full of antioxidants.  Green tea is better for you, so you can use green tea if you want to.

This peach iced tea recipe doesn't have preservatives or artificial ingredients, but it does have sugar.  I'd call it a sometimes drink due to the sugar.

Frozen Peaches or Fresh

You can use either frozen peaches or fresh peaches.  I've used both, and both taste delicious.
This peach tea recipe calls for two peaches, which is about 1 cup of sliced peaches.

You can also used canned peaches in a pinch.  I prefer fresh or frozen and think they have more flavor, but you can use a canned peach.

The Best Tea to Use for Peach Iced Tea

I use either Lipton tea or loose white tea.  I've tried generic brands of tea, but they just don't compare to Lipton in my opinion.  You can use your favorite brand of black tea though.

I'm not a huge fan of green tea; I prefer white tea.  White tea has a more delicate flavor.  You can certainly use green tea if you like it.

If you do use white tea or green tea, it's important that you let the water cool.  If you add green tea or white tea to boiling water, it will make it bitter.  You can also use white tea or green tea to make loaded tea recipes.

Peach Iced Tea Recipe from Fresh or Frozen Peaches

Peach Syrup Ingredients

  • 2-3 fresh sliced peaches or 1 to 1.5 cups frozen peach slices
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white sugar

Iced Tea Ingredients

Directions

Step #1

In a medium sized sauce pan, mix 1 cup water, sugar, and peach slices.  Bring to a boil on high heat.  Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 5 minutes or until sugar is dissolved.  Use a wooden spoon to crush the peaches as you simmer.

Step #2

Remove the peach syrup from heat and let sit for 30 minutes.  Strain out the peach slices and discard or compost.

Step #3

Bring 6 cups of water to a boil in a different pan.  Turn off the heat and let cool for about 5 minutes.  Then add the tea bags and let steep for 5 to 6 minutes.

Step #4

Remove the tea bags.  Be careful not to squeeze the tea bag because that can release tannins that make tea bitter.

Step #5

Add the peach syrup to the tea and let cool.  Store in the fridge.  This will be good for about a week.
