If you're looking for a simple way to add a fresh, calming scent to your home, lavender sachets are easy to make and use. These little fabric pouches filled with dried herbs aren’t just pretty—they freshen small spaces naturally and bring the soothing power of aromatherapy into your daily routine.
How to Make Lavender Sachets at Home
A lavender sachet is often used in closets or drawers to keep clothes smelling fresh. The sachet gives off a light scent of lavender without using harsh chemicals.
I keep on in my dresser drawers and also in garment bags for my fancy clothes that I wear about once a year. They are also great for storage bins and putting in bags of pillows or blankets when you store them for the summer.
Lavender is also known to be a gentle, natural moth repellent for closets. Instead of using harsh chemicals, lavender helps deter moths while leaving behind a clean, floral scent that’s both light and long-lasting.
Aromatherapy Benefits of Lavender
In addition to its freshening properties, lavender offers powerful aromatherapy benefits. The soothing scent is known for promoting relaxation, reducing anxiety, and supporting better sleep. Many people use lavender aromatherapy for stress relief or to create a calming nighttime routine.
Using lavender sachets for sleep is a simple way to bring that relaxing scent into your bedroom. Place one near your pillow or in your nightstand to subtly release calming aromas throughout the night.
How to Use Lavender Sachets Around the Home
Lavender sachets aren’t just for drawers. Once you learn how to use lavender sachets, you'll find endless spots to place them.
Hang one in your closet, tuck one into your gym bag, or store one with your towels and linens. They work great in travel bags too—adding a touch of comfort while keeping things smelling fresh.
You can also place sachets in your car for a chemical-free air freshener or drop one into a guest room dresser for a thoughtful, welcoming touch.
Other Herbs You Can Add to Your Sachets
While lavender is the star, you can customize your sachets with other herbs to complement its scent or add additional benefits.
Herbal sachets for drawers often include chamomile for its calming properties or rosemary for mental clarity and freshness. Peppermint is another popular option that delivers a clean, crisp scent and helps deter pests.
Feel free to mix these herbs with your lavender buds for a custom scent.
