Easy Croissant Apple Pie with Canned Apple Pie Filling

Earlier this week, I was really craving something sweet but I didn't want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.  My standby quick and easy dessert is either a peach or apple dump cake since I have so much canned pie filling.  One can only eat so many dump cakes, so I came up with this easy croissant apple pie.  It took about 10 minutes to assemble, so it was quick, easy, and yummy!

This isn't completely original--I've seen croissant pie desserts before.  But I did add my own spin to the classic recipe with a few tricks my grandma taught me.

This would be amazing with vanilla ice cream on top!  Unfortunately, we didn't have any.  I will make sure that I do for next time!

I used two containers of croissants and half a jar of pie filling, so I guess we are having apple pie enchiladas later this week.  Awesome!

What You Need

  • Canned apple pie filling
  • 2 cans of croissants
  • butter or margarine
  • brown sugar
  • cinnamon sugar
  • cookie sheet
  • silicon mat or parchment paper

1.  Line your baking sheet with a silicon mat or parchment paper.  These mini apple pies will leak, and it will make a mess.  Clean up was a breeze with the silicon mat though!

2.  Unroll the croissants and pinch two of them together to form a rectangle like shown below.
3.  Spread a thin layer of butter or margarine on the croissant dough.

4.  Place a spoonful of apple pie filling, about a teaspoon of brown sugar, and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar on each rectangle.
5.  Pull the corners together to wrap up the filling like a mini pie.  Pinch the dough together.  As you can see in the photo below, mine didn't seal completely.  You can see how little filling leaked out.  Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top.
6.  Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes.

Yum!  This made 8 croissant apple pies with two packages of dough.  The total time to make this was about half an hour and clean up was easy!

Keep Calm and Craft On Hot Glue Gun Pad Free SVG File SCAL

I haven't been posting here much, but I've been busy crafting.  I upgraded to the Silhouette Cameo, and nothing is safe from vinyl now.  {evil laugh}  My husband said that he expects the kids and critters to be covered soon too.  Honestly, they won't sit still long enough to transfer the vinyl.  They are safe for now.

Rather than buy a mat just for my glue gun, I made my own!  I used a cutting board from the Dollar Tree.  My store only had the circle, but I hear that some stores also have squares.  It's small, but it's perfect my glue gun.

Since the vinyl goes on the back of the cutting board, the image is reversed.  I also added little circles where the feet are on the cutting board so it is easy to center.  I used indoor vinyl Oracle 631, but Oracle 651 would work just as well.   This would also be cute on the wall or door of a craft room.  Just mirror the image so it reads right and delete the circles if you want to do that.
