Whipped Coffee With Chocolate Instead of Coffee

How to make whipped coffee with chocolate instead of coffee.  This makes a delicious treat for kids or for when you want a fun drink without the extra caffeine.  This is a new twist on the classic Dalgona coffee and made with chocolate in place of the instant coffee.

My daughter and I share many things, but my love for coffee is not one of them.  She really likes the idea of a Dalgona coffee, but she couldn't past the taste of the actual coffee.

She loves cooking and baking, so we did some experimenting in the kitchen.  It turns out that making whipped coffee with chocolate is just like making it with coffee.  It's a quick and easy to make, and it's so delicious.

I make these whipped coffee with chocolate instead of coffee for the kids, but I've been known to have a few sips because they are so good.

Whipped Coffee With Chocolate Instead of Coffee

What is Whipped (Dalgona) Coffee?

Whipped coffee, also called Dalgona coffee, is the latest Instagram and TikTok trend.  It originated on TikTok a few months ago.

Basically, it's an iced or warm milk drink that has whipped coffee on top.  The whipped coffee slowly melts into the milk for a delicious and creamy treat.

Traditionally, the drink is made with instant coffee.  Dakota wanted a whipped coffee drink with chocolate instead of coffee, so we tried Nesquik powder.

It worked really well as you can see!  It's not quite a milkshake and not quite chocolate milk.  It's somewhere in between because it's creamy and cold.

If you are looking for a traditional whipped coffee recipe, I also have a French vanilla Dalgona coffee recipe and a Bailey's alcoholic Dalgona coffee recipe.

Chocolate

We used chocolate Nesquik because we had some powder in the cupboard.  You could also use 1 tablespoon cocoa powder and 1 tablespoon sugar to make this chocolate Dalgona coffee.

You may need to adjust the amount of sugar that you use.

Milk Choice

We used heavy whipping cream for the foam and cow's milk for the drink. You can also use almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk to make this dairy free.

If you use a vegan milk for the whipped part, it may not whip as well as mine did, but it will still work.  If you aren't truly milk free due to being vegan or having a milk allergy, you can use heavy whipping cream for the foam and a vegan milk for the drink.

Variations

If you're looking for more whipped coffee recipes without coffee, don't be afraid to experiment.  This uses chocolate Nesquik, but you can also use strawberry Nesquik.

Do you all remember banana Nesquik?  Well, it's available again on Amazon!

Nesquik also has a new hot fudge sundae flavor that would be yummy in this whipped coffee without coffee.

Whipped Coffee With Chocolate Ingredients

Makes 1 serving

  • ¼ cup heavy whipping cream (or coconut milk or almond milk)
  • 1 tablespoon Chocolate Nesquik (powder or syrup)
  • 6 ounces milk of choice
  • Ice cubes

Directions

Step #1

In a medium sized bowl, combine heavy whipping cream and Nesquik.  Beat until it forms peaks and looks like whipped cream.

If you use a hand whisk, this takes about 10 minutes.  I used a hand held mixer, and it took about 2 to 3 minutes.

Step #2

Fill a glass with ice cubes and add your choice of milk.

Step #3

Top with a few spoonfuls of the whipped chocolate cream.

Serve immediately.  The whipped chocolate will start to melt and flavor the milk.

Top with extra Nesquik if desired.  You can also top with crumbled cookies or cinnamon.
