Fruit Marshmallow Kabobs With Chocolate Drizzle, Brownie, Marshmallows for Valentine's Day

10 January

Looking for a fun Valentine's Day treat or dessert?  These fruit marshmallow kabobs are easy to make, fun to eat, and taste delicious.  While they do have a chocolate drizzle, it's a better choice than a sugary dessert or solid chocolate.

Valentine's Day is synonymous with chocolate.  Each year, my daughter makes chocolate covered strawberries, and they are delicious.

This year, we are putting a little spin on the classic recipe and making fruit kabobs with chocolate drizzle.

These fruit skewers chocolate and marshmallow are so easy to make, even kids can help prepare them.  We used a strawberry, marshmallows, and chocolate drizzle to make ours, but you can get creative with different fruits.

How Do You Keep Fruit Kabobs Fresh?

For best results, you'll want to make fruit kabob with marshmallows up to 12 hours before serving.  Then store in the fridge  until ready to serve.

Bananas can turn brown, so if you are using bananas put them on just before serving your fruit skewers chocolate.

Can You Prepare Fruit Kabobs the Night Before?

Yes, you can  prepare these fruit kabobs with marshmallows if you'll be using them within 12 hours.  If they are for after dinner, then it's probably best to make them the morning that you'll be eating them.

You can also sprinkle them with fruit protector.  This fruit protector has no artificial flavors or colors.

How Do You Display Fruit Kabob?

You can get as fancy as you'd like!  These fruit kabobs with chocolate drizzle look pretty on a tray or platter.  You can also stand them up in a cup so people can grab one.

For a natural display, stick them in a pineapple or even in a watermelon.

How Do You Keep Fruit Kabobs Cold?

For best results, make the fruit skewers chocolate and place on a tray in the fridge.  If they will be on display for more than an hour, then you may want to set them on ice.

You could fill a pan with ice and set a tray on top and put the fruit marshmallow kabob on the tray.  This will keep them cold without freezing the fruit.

Best Fruit For Fruit Marshmallow Kabobs

You can use any fruit that you'd like to make fruit kabobs with marshmallows.  I added brownies, marshmallows, and chocolate drizzle, so I just used strawberries.

Try one of the follow fruits for your kabobs:

  • Strawberries
  • Grapes
  • Kiwi
  • Mango
  • Pineapple
  • Honeydew
  • Cantaloupe
  • Watermelon
  • Banana
  • Apple

If you use banana or apples, you'll want to cut them and add them just before serving your fruit marshmallow kabobs.

Brownies and Marshmallows

I added bite sized brownies and some large marshmallows for my fruit skewers chocolate.  I just made brownies from a box and cut them into bite sized pieces.

We are big fans of the Aldi brownie mix, but you can use your favorite mix or recipe.

I used the colored Jet Puffed marshmallows.  Smash Mallow has some really unique flavors that would be great for fruit marshmallow kabobs.

What to Serve With Fruit Marshmallow Kabobs

These fruit kabobs with marshmallows are delicious on their own, or you can serve them with another topping or dip.

Try one of the following to use as a dip:

  • Whipped cream
  • Fruit yogurt
  • Chocolate fondue
  • Vanilla pudding
  • Fruit dip

How to Melt Chocolate For Fruit Kabobs With Chocolate Drizzle

Normally, I don't microwave chocolate for melting because it can burn.  However, this is a small amount that isn't poured into a mold so I will sometimes microwave it.

You can either put the chocolate in a bowl and microwave on high in 30 second intervals or use the Wilton Melt and Decorate bottle.  You can melt the chocolate and drizzle it in one bottle to make these fruit skewers chocolate.

Otherwise, melt the chocolate in a bowl and use a spoon to drizzle it over the fruit marshmallow kabobs.

Best Chocolate for Chocolate Drizzle

Usually, I'm really picky about using chocolate wafers.  But again, we aren't pouring this.  Chocolate chips or even a solid candy bar are just fine for these fruit kabobs with chocolate drizzle.

Skewers

I used a shorter 6 inch skewer to make my fruit kabobs with marshmallows.  You can use a 12 inch skewer and cut them in half if you want to.

If you make these a lot, you might want to get an 8 inch metal skewer to reuse them.

This recipe makes 8 fruit skewers,

Fruit Marshmallow Kabobs Ingredients

  • 8 bite sized pieces of brownie (precooked)
  • 8 large marshmallows
  • 8 strawberries, cut in half
  • 3 ounces milk chocolate
  • 3 ounces white chocolate

Fruit Marshmallow Kabobs Directions

Step #1

Wash your strawberries. Cut the ends off and slices in half.

Step #2

Place half of a strawberries, a brownie, a marshmallow, and the other half of the strawberry on the skewer.

Step #3

Cut the chocolate into small pieces and place in two microwavable bowls.  Place them both in the microwave side by side and heat in 30 second intervals until melted.  Stir at each interval.

Step #4

Use a spoon to drizzle the melted chocolate over the skewers.  Place in the fridge and allow the chocolate to harden.

This fruit kabobs with chocolate drizzle is easy to customize.  Use your favorite fruits to make them your own!
