Halloween Buttercream Board Recipe

I consider myself a pretty good cook, and I'm also pretty creative.  However, cake or cookie decorating isn't my thing.

Not to worry though, this Halloween frosting board DIY is easy to make with no cake decorating skills required!

If you need Halloween treats for party, this is a fun one.  It's unique, easy to make, and everyone will love it!

You can make your icing from scratch with your favorite recipe, or you can use frosting from a can.

What is a Halloween Frosting Board?

A frosting board is a spin off from the butter board recipes.  You place frosting in the middle of a cutting board or other board and then offer a variety of dippers to dip into the frosting.

I made my frosting into the shape of a giant candy corn, but you can create your own design.

I know candy corn is controversial, and many people don't like the texture.  If this is you, then try freeze dried candy corn.  You get all the flavor in a crunchy candy.

For Christmas, try this gnome Christmas frosting board recipe.

Halloween Frosting Board Recipe Tips

Here are some tips for making a Halloween buttercream board:

  • The oil in the buttercream frosting may stain a wood cutting board.  You can put the frosting on parchment paper to prevent staining.
  • Choose 4-6 dippers for your frosting board.  You don't need to include every dipper mentioned above.
  • Reserve some dippers to refill.  I also add more icing if people are still eating from it before the party is over.
  • Use store bought frosting in a fan or from the bakery for an easy Halloween treat for a party.  You can also make your buttercream from scratch if you desire.
  • I made a candy corn shape, but you can get creative and make a pumpkin or other shape.

Halloween Frosting Board Ingredients

Here's what I used to make my buttercream board:

  • White frosting
  • Yellow frosting
  • Orange frosting
  • Candy corn
  • Halloween Peep marshmallows
  • Cookies

How to Make a Halloween Frosting Board Recipe

Step #1

Use the white, yellow, and orange frosting to create a piece of candy corn on the tray.  I used a knife to spread the frosting, but you can pipe if you prefer.

Step #2

Spread the cookies and other dippers around the candy corn frosting.

Step #3

Serve with a set of tongs for grabbing dippers and a spoon or butter spreader for serving the frosting.

Enjoy!

I hope this Halloween frosting board idea inspires you to get creative.
