TikTok Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

Cinnamon rolls  and easy French toast casserole are my go to breakfasts for holidays.  I figure I'm making enough food for dinner that I don't want to spend my morning making breakfast, too.

I usually just open the can, place the rolls on a pan, and bake.  But then I saw the TikTok cinnamon rolls recipe and had to try it.

This will be our go to for holiday breakfast from now on!  This is one of the easiest TikTok recipes, and it's so good.

These cinnamon roll hacks are so easy, but it really elevates the taste of the cinnamon rolls.  I suggest making cinnamon rolls with heavy whipping cream, but I also have some alternatives to use instead.

How Do You Make Cinnamon Rolls From the Can Better?

I've made cinnamon rolls from scratch, but the cans are so much easier.  I usually buy the Aldi brand because they tastes so good!

I like making cinnamon rolls with heavy whipping cream, but here are some other cinnamon roll hacks for your cinnamon rolls:

  • Add extra cinnamon and sugar to the cinnamon rolls.
  • Drizzle with melted butter.
  • Make a cream cheese frosting.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar on top.
  • Unroll and sprinkle nutmeg, cardamom, or ginger on them.
  • Sprinkle chopped nuts on top.
  • Top with shaved chocolate.

Do You Put Icing on Cinnamon Rolls Before Baking?

Typically, you add the icing to the TikTok cinnamon rolls after they bake and have cooled for a few minutes.

However, you can add a thin layer of icing to the top of the cinnamon rolls to keep them from drying out while they bake.

You'll likely need more icing than what's included in the package, so keep that in mind.

Do You Put Icing on Cinnamon Rolls While Hot?

For the best cinnamon rolls, let them cool for 5 to 10 minutes after baking before adding the icing.  If they are too hot, the icing will melt and slide off.

Should Cinnamon Rolls Touch When Baking?

A lot of people squish the TikTok cinnamon rolls in a pie pan.  I like this because it helps them rise up since they can't spread out.

However, for even baking, you can spread them apart on a baking sheet.  My old oven preferred the cinnamon rolls spread out.  My new oven does fine with them squished together.

How Do I Make Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls Softer?

Whether you use Pillsbury cinnamon rolls or the Aldi brand like I do, you want to keep them moist.  You can do this by making cinnamon rolls with heavy whipping cream.

You can also spread a thin layer of icing on top of the cinnamon rolls before baking.

You can also pour melted butter and add brown sugar if desired before baking.

What Does Heavy Whipping Cream Do to Cinnamon Rolls?

Making cinnamon rolls with heavy whipping cream makes the cinnamon rolls soft and pillow-y.  It gives them a light texture more like a gourmet cinnamon roll.

Heavy Whipping Cream Substitute for TikTok Cinnamon Rolls

I think that cinnamon rolls with heavy whipping cream tastes best for fluffy rolls, but you can substitute it.  If you don't want to use heavy whipping cream, here are some alternatives:

  • Half and half
  • Half and half with a tablespoon of melted butter
  • Whole milk and melted butter (about 3 parts milk to 1 part butter)
  • Evaporated milk
  • Canned coconut cream (this will give you a coconut flavor)

Can You Substitute Half and Half for Heavy Cream?

Yes, you can use half and half to make this TikTok cinnamon rolls recipe.  I recommend drizzling some butter on the rolls as well.
