How to make Instant Pot hot chocolate bombs by melting the chocolate in your Instant Pot and using the Instant Pot egg bite silicone mold.  You can melt your chocolate in your Instant Pot, so you don't need any special equipment to make make these hot cocoa bombs.

When I got my Instant Pot, I thought I would only use it for dinners.  I knew it would save me time and prepare delicious meals while I could work on something else and didn't have to stand over it watching it.

This was definitely worth the price tag, but then I discovered even more that I can do with my Instant Pot.  I do use it for dinners often, but now I find that I use it more for meal prep than I do for making dinners.

A few weeks ago, I discovered that I can melt chocolate in my Instant Pot and make Instant Pot egg mold hot chocolate bombs!  What a game changer.

I'd made hot cocoa bombs before, but I wanted to make them completely with my Instant Pot.  Thus these Instant Pot hot chocolate bombs with silicone  egg bite mold were born.

Instant Pot Hot Chocolate Bombs With Silicone Egg Bite Mold

I use my Instant Pot to make a lot of things, like hard boiled eggs, the perfect Instant Pot rice, Instant Pot shredded chicken, Instant Pot coffee concentrate, Instant Pot vanilla extract, and more.

Then I learned how to make Instant Pot double boiler.  This is a game changer!

I'd been a bit of a snob using my Wilton chocolate melting pot, but I really like this method too.  Both worked really well, so I will use both of them so I can melt two kinds of chocolate at once.

What Can I Use for a Hot Chocolate Bomb Mold?

Most hot chocolate bombs are made with half sphere molds that are between 2 and 2.5 inches in diameter.

I used this adorable heart shaped mold for my Valentine's Day hot cocoa bombs.

For these Instant Pot hot chocolate bombs, I used my silicone egg bite mold.  I wanted this to be a true Instant Pot recipe, so that's why I used it.

The Instant Pot egg mold hot chocolate bombs are so much easier to make!  You don't have to piece two parts together, so if that intimidates you try this method.

You will need to use marshmallows though.  They take up space in the mold and form a barrier to stop the chocolate that you seal them with from getting into the powdered chocolate mix.

It does make a big hot cocoa bomb, but it works perfectly!

How Do You Use a Hot Chocolate Bomb?

Hot chocolate bombs are like bath bombs but they are a drink!  They are hollow chocolate spheres filled with hot cocoa mix inside.  Or in this case, they are Instant Pot egg mold hot chocolate bombs that look different but act the same.

When you pour hot water or milk over them, the chocolate melts,  Then stir for a fun and delicious hot chocolate drink.

Do You Use Milk or Water for Hot Chocolate Bombs?

Generally, you can use either one.  Since you're using a hot chocolate mix, check the directions to see how to make it.

Some people like to use milk to make hot cocoa because it's creamier.  It's personal preference.

Do Hot Chocolate Bombs Need to be Refrigerated?

No, you do not need to store them in the refrigerator.  All of the ingredients are shelf stable.

How Long Will Hot Chocolate Bombs Last?

Your Instant Pot hot chocolate bombs will last about two weeks.  Store them in an airtight container on the counter.

Can You Buy Hot Chocolate Bombs?

Yes, you can buy hot chocolate bombs.  Most of the local gift shops near me have them.

You can also find hot cocoa bombs on Etsy.

The Best Chocolate for Instant Pot Hot Chocolate Bombs

I highly recommend using a chocolate wafer for your hot cocoa bombs.  It's made to be melted and repoured.

Chocolate chips will work, but they can be soft.  I add 2 teaspoons of refined coconut oil per cup of chocolate chips to harden them.

You can use either white chocolate or milk chocolate to make Instant Pot hot chocolate bombs.  I used both to make these in two different batches.

Hot Chocolate Mix

You can use your favorite hot chocolate mix.  If you want a sugar free mix, try this sugar free hot cocoa mix recipe.

I really like this white chocolate hot cocoa mix.  I like using it with a milk chocolate for a delicious flavor.

To be honest, I prefer the look of the round hot cocoa bombs, but these Instant Pot hot chocolate bombs with silicone egg bite mold win for being easy to make.

Both taste the same, so don't be afraid to try this one if the sphere ones are intimidating to you.  I don't mind making them, but getting the two pieces together can get frustrating sometimes.
