Air Fryer Bagel Chips Recipe

Air fryer bagel chips is a quick and delicious snack.  They are easy to make in just a few minutes and taste better than store bought chips.  Eat them alone as a snack or use them for dippers for a sweet or savory dip or serve with a charcuterie board or cheese board.

My kids love bagel chips, but they are getting pricey like most things at the grocery store.  When I found out how they were made, I was shocked to see they are so easy to make.


I make air fryer bagel chips, so they are incredibly easy to make.  We love our air fryer and use it at least once a day.  It uses less electricity than the oven, and it gives us great results.


I made air fryer everything bagel chips, but you can make your favorite flavor or leave them plain.

Choosing the Right Bagels


You can use your favorite bagels to make air fryer bagel chips.  I usually use plain bagels and add my own seasoning, but feel free to use a flavored bagel.  


You can even start with these homemade air fryer bagels made with Greek yogurt and use those to make bagel chips in air fryer.


Air Fryer Bagel Chips Ingredients


Here's what you need to learn how to make bagel chips:


Bagels.  You'll need some bagels, and you can use your favorite bagels.  I used plain bagels to make mine.  Day old or stale bagels work really well for air fryer bagel chips.


Oil.  You'll need oil to spray the bagel pieces to get them crispy and golden brown.  I used olive oil in a spray bottle.


Seasoning.  I used everything bagel seasoning.  You can use your choice of seasoning or leave them plain.  





Bagel Chips Recipe Variations


We really like everything bagel air fryer bagel chips, but here are some more ideas to try:


  • I used everything bagel seasoning and added salt, pepper, and garlic powder.  You can use just the seasoning if you prefer.
  • Salt and pepper alone make a good bagel chip for dipping.
  • Add garlic bread seasoning to dip in tomato sauces.
  • Add a little bit of vinegar with the oil and sprinkle with sea salt for salt and vinegar bagel chips.
  • Use blueberry or cinnamon bagels and add cinnamon sugar for a sweet bagel chip.
  • Use Italian seasoning and garlic for savory chips.
  • Use onion bagels and onion soup mix for oniony chips.
  • Use cheddar cheese bagels and and make them plain or add steak seasoning.
  • Sprinkle plain chips with ranch seasoning.


Air Fryer Bagel Chips Tips and Tricks


  • Day old or stale bagels work very well to make bagel chips in air fryer.  You can also use fresh bagels.
  • You can use any flavor of bagel.  Small pieces of additives like onions or raisins may overcook, so watch them as you cook.  
  • You can drizzle the oil on the sliced bagels or spray them.  Personally, I find spraying them with olive oil helps coat them better.
  • It's best to use too little oil than too much.
  • Sprinkle the seasonings on top of the sliced bagels evenly to avoid heavily seasoned areas.
  • Store in an airtight container for several days.


How to Store Air Fryer Bagel Chips


Let the bagel chips cool completely.  Then you can store them in an airtight container or zippered bag on the counter for several days.  


They should last up to 5 days.  You can also freeze them for up to three months, but they might get soggy when you thaw them.


What to Eat With Bagel Chips


We love to eat our bagel chips plain as a savory snack.  You can also use them for dippers for sweet or savory dips.  


We love spinach artichoke dip, so I make savory chips to use as a dipper.  We also like Italian seasoned bagel chips with warmed marinara or pizza sauce.


My son likes to have plain bagel chips with buffalo chicken dip.


For sweet bagel chips, try them with this mermaid Dunkaroo dip or use them for a frosting board recipe.





How to Make Bagel Chips in the Oven


I really like the convenience of using the air fryer, but you can also bake this bagel chips recipe.  Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.  


Toast the chips for 15-20 minutes.  Stir the chips every five minutes to make sure they heat evening.


Ingredients for Bagel Chips Recipe


  • 3 plain bagels
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder





How to Make Bagel Chips in Air Fryer


Step #1


Slice the bagel in 1/4 to 1/8 inch chips.  Try to get them evenly sized.





Step #2


Place sliced bagels in a mixing bowl and drizzle or spray with oil.  Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.  





Step #3


Place seasoned bagel pieces in the air fryer and cook at 375 degrees F for 10 minutes until golden and crispy.  Season chips with everything bagel seasoning.  Let cool and dry and enjoy.





Package leftovers in an airtight container.
