Pink Hot Chocolate Recipe for Valentine's Day

This pink hot chocolate recipe is perfect for Valentine's Day.  It's a rich and creamy drink that can be made in a small batch for two cups or in a slow cooker for a crowd.  Add whipped cream and sprinkles for a fun treat.

This Valentine's Day hot chocolate recipe is actually really easy to make from scratch.

I'll admit that I reach for the packets of hot chocolate when I want milk chocolate, but this is so easy that you won't need the box of packets.

This recipe only has two ingredients, and I'll discuss those more and how to choose the best ones for your family's needs.

Need to make this vegan?  You can totally make vegan pink hot chocolate!  Need it sugar free or keto?  Yes, you can do that too!

Pink Hot Chocolate Recipe for Valentine's Day

This Valentine's Day hot chocolate isn't just limited to February.  Use green to make it for St. Patrick's Day or even Christmas.

Try this and one of these cute Valentine's Day cupcake recipes for a delicious treat.  Decorate with this cute Valentine's Day Dollar Tree heart wreath.

Milk Choice

You can use your choice of milks.  You can use cow's milk, heavy whipping cream, oat milk, or almond milk.  I usually use regular cow's milk,

If you want to make this keto friendly, use heavy whipping cream.  For vegan, use almond milk or oat milk.  But keep in mind that you'll also need to swap the white chocolate chips for a vegan alternative.

Aldi just introduced a new cow's milk and almond milk combination.  I haven't tried it yet, but I'm definitely going to pick it up for my iced coffee and this Valentine's Day hot chocolate.

White Chocolate

This pink hot chocolate recipe is actually a white chocolate drink, so you'll use white chocolate chips.  You can also use pink melting chocolate if you want.

I use regular white chocolate chips.  For a vegan drink,  use vegan white chocolate chips.  You can also use sugar free white chocolate chips if you want sugar free or keto pink hot chocolate.

Food Coloring

If you use pink melting wafers, then you don't need to use any food coloring.  If you do need to add pink, then just use regular red food coloring.

My son can't have red dye, so I use a natural pink food coloring.  Aldi has sprinkles that are made with natural dyes if you want to add sprinkles.

Strawberry Pink Hot Chocolate

You can also use strawberry Nesquik powder to color your hot chocolate.  Of course, this makes a strawberry pink hot chocolate recipe.  Add it to taste, I'd start with 1/4 cup and add more as needed.  None of us like strawberry hot chocolate, so we didn't try it.

For a natural strawberry hot chocolate, cook 8 ounces of strawberries for each 2 cups of milk until they are soft, blend, and pour through a strainer to remove the seeds.  Then add to the milk and white chocolate chips and cook as usual.

You could also use strawberry milk for all or part of the milk to make Valentine's Day hot chocolate.

Pink Hot Chocolate Recipe for Valentine's Day Toppings

This is delicious on its own, but you can also use one of the following toppings:

Pink Hot Chocolate in a Slow Cooker

If you want to make this for a crowd, simply triple or quadruple the recipe.  Then place the ingredients in a slow cooker and cook on low until melted.  Stir every 15 to 30 minutes.

It will take about 2 hours to melt the chocolate chips.  Once melted, turn to warm and serve.

Can You Reheat Valentine's Day Hot Chocolate?

Yes, you can definitely reheat this Valentine's Day hot chocolate recipe.  This is very convenient if you make it in the slow cooker.

Put the hot chocolate in the fridge and reheat it the next day.  I use the stove or the microwave; just be sure to stir well and don't let it boil.
