Apple Cider Syrup Recipe

How to make an apple cider syrup recipe.  This is a delicious recipe that makes an apple cinnamon syrup recipe canning or freezing.  You can use your boiled apple cider syrup on pancakes, ice cream, on desserts, or in coffee.

Apple Cider Syrup Recipe

We love fresh apple cider in the fall.  I get it directly from the Amish a few hours after its pressed or straight from the orchard.

Hot or cold, there's nothing like a cup of fresh apple cider.  It just screams fall.

In addition to drinking it, I also use it to make an apple cinnamon syrup recipe.  This is a delicious recipe that starts with apple cider instead of apple juice for a rich syrup that has depth and tastes amazing thanks to the spiced apple cider.

What Does Apple Cider Syrup Taste Like?

This apple cinnamon syrup recipe tastes like apple cider with spices, but it's thicker.  It's also fairly sweet, but since this is adapted from the Ball Complete book of canning, I don't adjust the sugar content.

What Can I Use Apple Syrup For?

This apple cinnamon syrup recipe is delicious on pancakes or waffles.  You can also use apple cider syrup on ice cream or other desserts.

Try it with my Instant Pot caramel sauce recipe for a delicious apple and caramel topping.

You can also use an apple pie syrup recipe in coffee to make a delicious Starbucks copycat apple crisp macchiato.

How Do I Thicken Fruit Syrup?

Since this is a tested apple syrup recipe canning, I do not add anything to do it.  You can, however, boil it longer to reduce more water.

Once you have canned it and after you open it, then you can add cornstarch or arrowroot powder to thicken your apple cider syrup recipe.

You can also heat it to remove more water and reduce it that way.

Again, I don't recommend altering the recipe because it's a safe and trusted canning recipe.

If you plant to freeze the apple cinnamon syrup recipe, then you can use cornstarch to thicken it when you cook it.

How to Preserve Apple Cinnamon Syrup Recipe

I make this an apple syrup recipe canning, but you can also freeze it.  You can freeze it in silicone ice cube trays for smaller servings.  Once frozen, I move it to reusable freezer bags.

You can also freeze it in 8 ounce freezer containers.

Apple Cider for Apple Pie Syrup Recipe

It's important to use a high quality apple cider when you make an apple cinnamon syrup recipe.  Look for an apple cider that has a deep color and is cloudy.

If you want to save some steps, you can make my easy hot apple cider recipe in a Crock Pot slow cooker or my mulled apple cider recipe.  Then use that to make an  apple pie syrup recipe and enjoy the rest while you're canning.

You can also use apple juice to make an apple syrup recipe.  However, using apple juice won't give you the complex flavor and depth that apple cider does.
