01 November

Learn how to make hot chocolate spoons.  This hot cocoa spoons recipe makes a fun and unique gift for both kids and adults, and they are great to use at parties.  Give each person hot cocoa spoons at Christmas or a holiday party so they can each make their own hot chocolate.  These are perfect to add to a hot cocoa bar.

Hot Chocolate Spoons With Marshmallows

Hot chocolate bombs are perhaps the most popular way to serve hot cocoa, but these hot cocoa spoons DIY are a great alternative.

This hot cocoa spoons recipe is easy to make, and you don't need a special mold.  They are similar to a hot chocolate bomb because you put them in hot milk.

The chocolate melts for a delicious cup of hot chocolate.  I also added some crushed peppermint and some mini marshmallows.  These are optional, and I'll have more topping ideas below.

How Do You Eat a Hot Chocolate Stirrer?

This hot chocolate spoons recipe is like a solid hot chocolate recipe.  You dunk the spoon into hot milk or water to make hot cocoa.  Personally, I prefer warm milk.

These hot chocolate spoons with marshmallows actually make a cup of hot cocoa.  These are similar to my chocolate dipped spoons, but the dipped spoons are meant to stir and add more chocolate flavor.

These hot cocoa spoons, however, actually make the hot cocoa.  There's no powder needed to make hot cocoa.

How Do You Use Hot Chocolate Sticks?

To use hot cocoa spoons DIY, add about 6 ounces of hot milk or water to a mug.  Dunk in hot chocolate spoons and stir while the chocolate melts.

I prefer to use milk.  It will need to be hot enough to melt the chocolate, so let it cool before letting children drink.

How Do I Make Hot Chocolate Better?

I highly recommend using milk with these hot cocoa spoons.  It gives it a creamier taste.

You can also add fun toppings like mini marshmallows, peppermint pieces, and whipped cream.

How to Melt Chocolate for Hot Cocoa Spoons

You can microwave chocolate chips to melt them, but I recommend using a double boiler.  You can also use your Instant Pot as a double boiler to melt chocolate chips.

If you do microwave your chocolate chips, use short bursts of 30 seconds at a time.  Be careful not to burn your chocolate!

You can also add 1 teaspoon of refined coconut oil per cup of chocolate chips.  This makes the chocolate firmer when it sets up and gives it a nice gloss.

I used a mini muffin tin for my hot cocoa spoons recipe.  However, you can use a silicone ice cube tray or even a small Dixie cup.

I used these adorable biodegradable wooden spoons.  They are big enough to stir even an 8 ounce cup of hot cocoa.

You can also use plastic spoons or even disposable cake pop sticks or reusable cake pop sticks to make hot cocoa spoons.
