Peach Jello Shots Recipe

Jello shots are always a hit at summer parties.  They do take some prep work, but you can make them the day before the party to save party prep time.

I picked up some flavored vodka, and I wanted some Smirnoff peach vodka drinks to use it in.  These peach Jello shots with vodka are perfect for summer.

Can You Get Drunk on Jello Shots?

Yes, you can get drunk on peach Jello shots.  However, these peach Jello shots with vodka have about 1/4 of a shot in each serving.

They have less alcohol than a mixed drink, but you can still get drunk.  Always drinks (eat?) responsibly and keep out of reach of children.

What Alcohol Goes Well in Jello Shots?

Typically, you'll use vodka to make a peach Jello shots recipe.  I used Smirnoff peach to make mine.

You can also use rum or tequila to make jello shots.  Use the same amount of alcohol in place of the flavored vodka so they set up properly.

Are Jello Shots Better With Vodka or Rum?

This is personal preference.  Personally, I like to use a flavored vodka to make Smirnoff peach vodka drinks.

You can also use unflavored vodka or rum.  Rum complements most gelatin flavors well.  Use a white rum if you don't want to change the color of the gelatin.

How Much Alcohol Should be in a Jello Shot?

Substitute half of the water with vodka to learn how to make peach Jello shots.  This is a smaller box of peach Jello that calls for 2 cups of water, so I used 1 cup of Smirnoff peach vodka and 1 cup of water.

What is the Most Alcohol You Can Put in Jello Shots?

You can replace half of the water with alcohol to make a peach Jello shots recipe.  You might be tempted to use more alcohol, but the Jello shots may not set up correctly.

What Kind of Vodka Do You Use for Jello Shots?

I buy a mid grade vodka for peach Jello shots with vodka.  You don't want a $4 bottle because the bitterness of the vodka will make the shots bitter.

However, you don't need an expensive bottle either.  Look for something in the $12 to $15 range.  I like Absolut or Smirnoff.

I like to use flavored vodka.  You can use unflavored vodka, but I like a little more flavor.

If I make Jello shots with plain vodka, I use the same vodka I use for Instant Pot vanilla extract.

Can You Freeze Jello Shots?

You can freeze these peach Jello shots with vodka, however gelatin doesn't freeze very well.  It can change the texture and create ice crystals on the top.

Freezing gelatin can make it expand and get crystalized.  You might be tempted to freeze them for a cold summer shot, but I don't recommend it.

Can I Put Jello Shots in the Freezer to Make it Set Faster?

You can put them in the freezer to help them set faster, but this really don't speed up the process much.  If you forget them in the freezer, you might risk the gelatin freezing and ruining your batch.

How Many Ounces Should a Jello Shot Be?

Most peach Jello shots recipes will call for 1 ounce shots.  You can make them 1.25 ounces or up to 2 ounces if you prefer.

How Do You Make Jello Shots if You Don't Have Cups?

I prefer to use souffle cups with lids so my peach Jello shots with vodka don't spill.  This is also easier for stacking once they are set up.

However, if you don't have cups, try one of these methods for pouring them:

Keep in mind that if you use a muffin tin or silicone molds, you'll need to let each batch set up completely before reusing the mold.  Buy an extra mold or plan on it taking a while to make a peach Jello shots recipe.

Do Jello Shots Expire?

Your peach Jello shots with vodka will last as long Jello will last.  I generally say that they are best when used within 1 to 3 days, but they will last up to 5 days.

Can You Make Jello Shots 2 Days Before?

Yes, you can definitely make a peach Jello shots recipe two days before a party.  They will last up to 5 days, but they are best used within 3 days.

Peach Jello Shots With Vodka Tips

Here are some tips:

  • Chill the Smirnoff peach vodka before adding it to the Jello so the hot water don't burn off much alcohol.
  • A 3-ounce box of Jello will make 8 to 10 peach Jello shots.
  • Plan on making 4 Jello shots per person.
  • Don't double the recipe or the gelatin won't set up.  If you want to make more than one batch, make one completely and then start the second one.
  • I like to use souffle cups because they have lids.  You can also use paper lined muffin tins or paper cups.
  • Don't put your Jello shots in the freezer.  This can cause ice crystals on the top and my change the texture.
  • Don't add more alcohol than what is called for in the recipe or they won't set up.
