Caramel Apple Jello Shots With Crown Royal Apple

These fall Jello shots are sure to be a hit at your parties this year.  They are easy to make ahead of time and made with Crown Royal Apple for a delicious apple and caramel flavor that's perfect for the season.

How to Make Caramel Apple Jello Shots

We are finally back to having fall parties!  We used to have a fall party each year where we have a bonfire and invite friends over to have some fun before the busy holiday season starts.

These green apple Jello shots will be perfect for the party.  I love that I can make them ahead of time and let them sit in the fridge.

I made apple whiskey Jello shots with Crown Royal apple, but you can use other kinds of alcohol, but we'll get to that below.

Can You Get Tipsy Off Jello Shots?

Yes, you can get tipsy or even drunk from whiskey Jello shots.  The alcohol is lower than a shot, so you'd need approximately 4 apple whiskey Jello shots to equal one shot of whiskey.

Drink (or eat as the case may be) these green apple Jello shots responsibly and keep out of reach of children.

Is There Apple Flavored Jell-O?

Yes, I used Sonic green apple gelatin.  You can also use Jolly Rancher green apple Jello to make Crown Apple Jello shots.

What is the Best Alcohol to Put in Jello Shots?

Typically, Jello shots are made with vodka. I used vodka to make this Peach Jello Shots recipe and these Strawberry Starburst Jello shots.

However, I make my caramel apple Jello shots with Crown Apple.  You can also use tequila and brandy, but the flavor of these alcohols will lend their flavor to the Crown Royal apple Jello shots.

I really like Crown Royal apple and use it to make a Crown Royal Apple and lemonade recipe.

How Much Alcohol and Water Do You Put in Jello Shots?

I used 1 1/2 cups Crown Apple and 1 1/2 cups water to make these whiskey Jello shots.  You might be tempted to add more whiskey, but they won't set up properly.

You can, however, use less whiskey and more water if you want to.

How Long Does Jello Take to Set With Alcohol?

These caramel green apple Jello shots take about 2 to 3 hours to set up.  You should put them in the fridge to set up because they will not set up properly on the counter.

How Do You Make Jello Shots Not Stick?

These green apple Jello shots can get stuck in the cups.  This is why I like to use souffle cups and not a mold.

You can put a drop of vegetable oil or refined coconut oil on a paper towel and wipe the inside of the cup before pouring the fall Jello shots into the cups to help them release easier.

How Far in Advance Can I Make Jello Shots?

These apple whiskey Jello shots will last about 5 days in the fridge.  However, they are best when used within 2 to 3 days of making them.

I usually make my caramel apple Jello shots the day before.

Tips for How to Make Jello Shots With Crown Royal Apple

Here are tips for making apple whiskey Jello shots:

  • Chill the alcohol before making fall Jello shots.  The hot water can burn off some of the alcohol.
  • You want to substitute up to half to half of the water with alcohol to make apple Jello shots.  If you add more whiskey than half, they will not set up.
  • A 6-ounce box of gelatin will make about 16 to 20 green apple Jello shots, depending on the size.  A 3-ounce box will make about 8 to 10.
  • If you are making Crown apple Jello shots for a party, plan on about 4 per person.
  • Using souffle cups is the easiest way to make apple Jello shots because they have lids.  Once they are set up, you can stack them and don't have to worry about them spilling.
  • Don't try to freeze your whiskey Jello shots to get them to set up faster.  This can cause ice to form on the top, which lowers the water content in the actual Jello part.  This can prevent them from setting up.
  • Add a drop of vegetable oil or coconut oil to a paper towel and wipe the cups so the caramel apple Jello shots release easier.
  • You can also pour your Crown Royal apple Jello shots into cupcake liners or small cups if you don't have souffle cups.
